You should go get wet for a lot of people. This is the first time seeing a birthmark and that’s part of why I enjoy sharing. This is a good conversation piece for either parent with their Children to see kids that have differences or for those parents who do have a kid that looks like Henry or has any kind of a birthmark. It’s been a really cool way for them to relate and see their kid represented.
They had a healthy baby girl in our arms and so that was the pediatrician came in and let us know that it was a birthmark but she was pretty sure it was gonna be considered a CMN.
There is a very slightly elevated um increase in her cancer risk. It’s a very relatively low increase.
But we have to monitor with sunscreen and They are careful with hats and that kind of thing. Outside of their regular dermatology appointments sadly probably are a bigger worry at this point is just going to be focusing on her mental health people wondering about bullying and the kind of experiences she might have had in her childhood. And honestly, They think just a lot of that comes from ignorance and not having seen this before. They had her in their arms.
They had not seen a birthmark like this either. It doesn’t upset them that others haven’t seen it, but They just wish that they were different. I really feel like the more you see these differences, the more normalized they will be and continue to be. And so that’s a big reason why we continue to share.
They’ve been able to connect with lots of other parents or just other adults who have CMN and have birthmarks and that has been just wonderful for us to have this overwhelming feeling of support they just radiate positivity and it’s just heartwarming for a mom to see these other kids that can see her daughter in and they are just happy as can be and they are thriving 20 years from now five.
She just hopes that she’s happy doing whatever the heck she wants to be doing because She just knows that she can do anything.
She sets her mind on whether that’s college or becoming a mom herself or exploring the world, whether it’s talking to people about her birthmark and helping continue this or whether it has absolutely nothing to do with that.
